Nuna
Nuna
Handwoven from 2800 Japanese glass beads. The motif comes from my mother's kalaallisuut, her Greenlandic national dress, embroidered more than 100 years ago in Kalaallit Nunaat, Greenland. Woven by hand in a specialist beadweaving atelier in France.

The title, nuna, meaning land in Greenlandic, refers to a mountain motif identified in my mother’s kalaallisuut, her Greenlandic national dress, in the avittat sealskin embroidery made by my mother’s aunt, Atsa Rosa, more than 100 years ago.
The blue and white palette isolates and clarifies the mountain motif.
